That's why everyone, no matter where you live, should take note of a rally just held in SF to support a growing political movement: the legalization of public nudity. San Francisco, Saturday, October 20, 2012 Sure, there are stereotypes and yes there will be drunken parties, but who cares? It’s incredibly selfish and ignorant of you to tell these people they don’t have the right to celebrate because you think there is no need for a cause that you clearly don’t understand.īut hey, you attended eleven gay events.Rally for Nudity, San Francisco, Saturday, OctoRally for Nudity
CUTE GAY MEN AT PARADES SKIN
People hide in their skin denying who they are for years until they get the courage to come out or escape whatever kept them in. Huge companies showing their support for the LGBTQ+ community does change minds.Īlso, you seem to forget it wasn’t even a decade ago that coming out was taboo across the world. While I’m not a huge fan of how commercialized Pride has become, it helps. In some places we are sought out and killed for who we are. In the US, we aren’t even considered a protected class in most cases, giving people freedom to treat us differently simply because we’re gay.
There is still active hate and discrimination against us. The need for the cause is certainly not gone, and as any remotely aware gay person I’m not sure how you can even state such a thing. I'll tell you the same thing I told the hetero world who tried to define me and force me into a mold I didn't care for: go to hell. It wasn't against the reddit hivemind, it was against the "gay mainstream" hivemind that thinks it has the right and authority to define our shared sexuality and to tell me that I'm a bad gay because I don't particularly appreciate the parade. Not for you going against the "reddit hivemind narrative". You have no idea who I am or what I care about.Īlso, the downvotes are from the snarky-ness. Maybe I daydream about gay men going to Afghanistan to fight those bastards who are doing it as in former military gay men. Why is that? Why can't you stick to arguing against what I actually say? Why do you feel the need to assume that not being interested in a parade means that I don't care about those of us who are still in mortal danger? Maybe I think a parade is inappropriate when some us are being thrown from the tops of buildings. You are making increasingly stupid assumptions. There are places where we could be killed simply for having a rainbow flag. Why can't you be happy unless I agree with you? Why are you so upset when I say that I don't feel the need to hangout with half naked guys in chaps? You're so upset about it that you're putting words in my mouth and twisting what I have said. An article was written and posted here that says those gay people who are perfectly happy having nothing to do with "pride" parades are not actually happy, they are suffering from internalized homophobia. Take a step back and see what's going on here. As for being upset by other people's happiness, don't make me laugh. I never said anything against pride, or rainbow flags, and you should stop making silly assumptions. But, I am also able to voice my opposition here. If you vociferously decry anything pride or rainbow related, and say shit like "The need for a cause is gone", then maybe you would want to examine why other people being happy of who they are upsets you so much.
If you simply don't like it, then there isn't an issue because you don't have to go.
